Hi! My name is Reinaldo DeJesus
Good to be on your screen!
I'm glad you stopped by.
My New Single is out !
Check it out
I’m Reinaldo DeJesus a Grammy Award Winner professional musician .
I love playing percussion, drums and keyboards but also, I love recording the sounds I make with those instruments and blast music out of speakers. I have been playing music since I was a little kid in Puerto Rico. I played with many puertorrican artist and musicians from all over the world.
To make a long story short… My brothers from the reggae band Cultura Profética introduced me to the trombonist William Cepeda and he put me on a plane with his band Afro-rican Jazz to tour the world. It was incredible!
Then I found myself playing music in Boston. A band called Entrain hired me and through gigging with them I connected with my brothers from the indie rock band Dispatch. I did a bunch of tours and recordings with them.
My brother Miguel Zenon, who I went to high school with back in PR, called me to go to West Africa for a month sponsored by the Jazz Ambassadors program at the Kennedy Center. By now I’m a 100% all in for a music career for life. I moved to New York City and shortly after that, I found myself at a recording studio with Ms. Lauryn Hill. She put me on a plane to go and tour Europe for three weeks. It was awesome! But before that, Ralph Irizarry called me and I was like WHAT? WHO? Ralph Irizarry?. That is one of the highlights of my carrer I was super excited to play with his band Timbalaye.
Then I decided to call my brothers Zaccai and Luques Curtis and Richie Barshay and with the sponsorship of the Rhythm Road program at Lincoln Center we got on a plane in 2006 to do a tour in Southeast Asia. What can I say, it was an unbelievable experience!. It was so cool that they requested us again. And we went back, It was an unforgettable experience.
Then I joined the Broadway show about The Nigerian Musician FELA! It was awesome to get to travel to Nigeria and do the Fela on Broadway show at the Fela shrine in Lagos .
It was at the Fela show that I met my brothers from the Grammy nominated Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra , Whom I currently record and travel the world with.
Then I found myself making rhythms with my drums on a basketball court in Harlem and then the basketball super star Carmelo Anthony would repeat those rhythms dribbling a basketball for a NBA commercial. It was super fun.
Who would've known that under Zaccai Curtís leadership , Luques Curtís , Camilo Molina , Willie Martínez and yours truly we were going to record an album called Cubop Lives! and that album was going to be the 67th Grammy Award winner for best Latin jazz album In 2025. I'm so grateful ! What an amazing feeling that is.
I think I’ll wrap it up and just leave you with the fact that I LOVE making music and I am on it 24/7. It is what I was born to do. So I invite you into my musical world and hopefully you will agree with me and my sound, and we can connect sometime and create some magical moments together for the world to enjoy. I'm into music for brands, commercials, films, performance and teaching.
I love studio productions. I love performing all kinds of music style.
And, If you want I can also teach you what I know or we can just be friends and hang out and enjoy life in this beautiful world.

ReinaldoDeJesus with Miguel Zenon& TheRhythmCollective in SanJuan,PR
the Rhythm Collective first came together for a U.S. State Department tour of West Africa in 2003, and all of the music that appears on this album was conceived during—or inspired by—that experience. The edgy and the artful come together in covers and originals that don't lack for rhythmic vivacity, yet don't feel hemmed in by the grooves. The music often gives off a loose-and-open-ended feeling, but it also sizzles with percussive heat. Drummer Tony Escapa and percussionist Reinaldo DeJesus burn with the fire of a thousand suns at times, but balance their frenetic energy with a more spacious outlook. Zenón and electric bassist Aldemar Valentin share in their ability to blur lines, delivering melodic rhythms and rhythmic melodies throughout.
